BMW debuted the angel eyes with the 2001 facelift of the E39. This one's a 1999, meaning these are aftermarket and the dumbass PO just didn't put them over the right lights.

weird. The issue goes away after about 15min. I think that the spring gets cold and sticks until everything warms up again. I'm going to ask the mechanic about it though...

Welcome to the E39 masterrace.

This reminds me of all the shit I've found in my car that one of previous owner fucked up. To stick with the headlights: It seems like they attempted to install an aftermarket xenon kit at one point, atleast that's what I've found under several tons of empty coke bottles in my trunk. They obviously failed (after cutting all the wires) and completely botched the whole headlight wiring to make them work again. The problem is that it's not only poorly done and messy as hell, my passenger side angle eyes only work occasionally now and I still need to figure out where exactly the cable might be broken. It really is annoying. And don't get me started on the clutch and transmission...
